Vaifoa- Outcome Attributes & Features

Greetings and a very warm welcome to my new blog post! Throughout this term in DigiTech (ICT) with Ms Anderson, we've been learning and planning all about the key methods in creating a game based on the term of "Sustainability." Most of us are still learning about the basics of a creating a game but this is the start towards making the actual project (game). This blog post is to show you what we've done during DigiTech today and our task was to complete this given Google Drawings template and write in the specific key words of a multi-level game. Feel free to leave a comment down below in the comments section if you have any thoughts or ideas towards making a game relating to the term of sustainability. Thank you very much for visiting my blog, I appreciate it a lot!

Vaifoa- Photosynthesis

Image result for photosynthesis
Greetings and welcome to my new blog post, within the five weeks at school in Science with Mr Tyagi, we've been learning about "Photosynthesis" If you don't know what the definition of photosynthesis is, it's right down below if you want to check it out :D Please leave some feedback in the comment section to help me improve or just a nice feedback, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you very much for visiting my blog.

Photosynthesis:
Photosynthesis is a process in which green plants prepare their food in the presence of sunlight by taking carbon dioxide from the environment and water from the earth. Chlorophyll present in green leaves converts carbon dioxide and water to glucose and oxygen. This oxygen is used by all living organisms to survive.
Go to the website given below and read the text carefully so as to learn the process of photosynthesis in detail. Watch video and enjoy flashcards.

When finished answer the questions given below.

Give 3 examples of how plants support life.
  1. They provide food (cereals, fruits & vegetables)
  2. They provide oxygen which is necessary for life
  3. They provide medicines
  4. They provide habitat

What is Photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is a process in which carbon dioxide and water are used by the plants to produce carbohydrate in the presence of su
Write word equation for photosynthesis:

  1. List the reasons why water is so important for the plants.
Water is very important for the plant because the plant needs the water as part of making it’s own food, getting in oxygen so it is able to grow. In photosynthesis, it is explained that water is used to be apart of the process of photosynthesis, plants need water for it to be able to grow and get oxygen.

  1. Describe how plants lose water to the atmosphere
Plants lose water to the atmosphere because the causes evaporation towards the water. So the sunlight turns the liquid water into gas particles that float within the sky and that is the process of evaporation to condensation which allows the particles in the sky to drop and turn into water. That entire process of evaporation to condensation is well known to be called “transpiration.”

What 4 ingredients are needed for plants to make their own food?
  1. Water
  2. Sunlight
  3. Carbon dioxide
  4. Chlorophyll

Extra Work:
Write down the names of plants which have adopted themselves for one or the other reasons like loss of water staring food etc.

Plants lose water from the process of the sun making it’s entrance, as it removes the water from the plants… this is called “evaporation”, which transforms the water into gases.

In your own words, describe what happens during photosynthesis:

Plants needs sunlight, water, carbon dioxide and chlorophyll to be able to make it’s own food, this process is called photosynthesis. During photosynthesis, water falls into the ground where the plants are and then that water goes into the roots of the plant.

Vaifoa- Cells

Greetings and welcome to my new blog post! Throughout this term in Science with Mr Tyagi, we've been learning about Living and Non-living, Cell structure and also the Functions of cell parts which are (organelles.)  Our task for today was to write a blog post to show what we've learnt within these five weeks. I've created two diagrams to show that I'm able to learn and know the different cells and their functions within the Plants and Animals. Check the out the diagrams down below if you insist. Please feel free to leave a comment, Thank you very much for visiting my blog, I appreciate it a lot!

LIVING                                                 Non-Living
They are able to grow
They are not able to grow
They are able to breathe
They can’t breathe
They can move on their own
They can’t
They have sensory organs
They don’t unfortunately
They can produce offspring (reproduce)
They can’t

Livings things are created/made up out of “cells.” They are able to maintain to balance… be stable betwo things as of being dependent on each other. Livings things are also able to move, feed, grow, reproduce, excrete waste and also breathe… unlike Non-living things which cannot indeed breathe… for example, a car can’t breathe because they don’t have any organs to produce oxygen. Non-living things are not able to move on their own but Living things are, they don’t have all of these characteristics. It is defined that life uses a body of attribution which living organisms share.

PLANT CELL:

ANIMAL CELL:

The differences between these two cells “Plant Cell” and “Animal cell” is that there is a total difference in size construction... there are a few difference main structures between these cells, as it concludes the vacuole in the Plant cell and in the Animal cell, it has a more than one. As of animals and plants, they are different but they are still a living thing in life. Plants are able to move around in some cases but not as swiftly animals, it takes quite a long period of time for them to move on their own.

Cell membrane: Very thin transparent sheet that holds everything inside & controls what comes in & out.
Cell wall: Made of cellulose & only found in plants, thick & strong, provides strength for the plant.
Nucleus: Usually a small dark circular spot. The control centre for the cell & contains genes.
Cytoplasm: Watery jelly like substance which fill most of the cell. It holds the cell organelles and contains nutrients & chemicals.
Vacuole: Water filled bubble that helps to keep the cell firm.
Chloroplasts: Small green structures found only in the green part of plants. Makes sugar for the plant.
Mitochondria: The part of the cell that does respiration to give the cell energy.

Names of 10 Things
Living or Non-living
Explanation
1. TableImage result for table
Non-living
A table isn’t a living thing and the reason why, is because it can’t grow, move on it’s own, reproduce, doesn’t have any sensing organs and can’t excrete or respire.
2. CatImage result for cat
Living
A cat is a living thing because it can grow, reproduce more of it’s kind, is able to excrete waste and it is able breathe. Cats have eyes which allow them to see and sense their surroundings.
3. BagImage result for bag
Non-living
A bag isn’t a living thing and the reason why is because a bag needs someone to carry it around… it can’t move on it’s own and it can’t breathe, so it’s not living.
4. DoorImage result for door
Non-living
A door can’t respire or excrete waste because it doesn’t have any organs like a living thing, it can’t breathe, it’s a man-made object to use to go into places. A door doesn’t have eyes so they aren’t able to seek/look around at the environment that they’re in.
5. DogImage result for dog
Living
A dog is indeed a living thing because it can grow, move, reproduce, sense, Dogs are able to eat food and excrete the waste from digesting the food from the stomach. They have eyes that allow them to see certain objects/things moving around them, They can adapt.
6. PlantImage result for plant
Living
A plant is a living thing because it is able to grow, it can move when it turns to the sun so they can get energy. They are also able to soak up water so they can live.
7.  WhiteboardImage result for whiteboard
Non-living
A whiteboard isn’t able to grow, reproduce, respire or excrete waste, doesn’t have any sensing organs so they are well known to be a non-living thing. It is a man-made object that was created for school work… write things on it.
8. WormImage result for worm
Living
A worm is a living thing because it’s able to reproduce so there can be more of it’s kind and yet… they’ve done a brilliant job of reproducing, they can breathe, they are able to digest… excrete waste so obviously they are a living thing. Worms are able to sense their surroundings but they can’t see because they don’t have any eyes to see where it’s going. Basically, they just sense their ways around things.
9. PaperImage result for paper
Non-living
Paper is unfortunately not a living thing because it was created from people...from trees. They can’t breathe nor move on it’s own but they are able to move from the wind blowing them because they are light weighted. They also aren’t able to excrete.
10. WallImage result for wall
Non-living
A wall isn’t a living thing because it was created from mankind and they aren’t able to move on it’s own, can’t reproduce… obviously, can’t digest or excrete waste nor eat anything because they are not a living thing. The wall doesn’t have any eyes to see or sense its surroundings. It can’t move because it’s been built/created to be stable.
Living and Non-living Things:
Questions:

1. What are the seven characteristics of living things?
The seven characteristics of living things are...
Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion and Nutrition.

2. Describe the two groups of non-living things…
The first group is those which were never part of a living thing, such as stone and gold. The second group are those which were once part of living things. Coal is a good example, it was formed when trees  died and sank into the soft ground. Paper is non-living but it is also made from trees. Jam is also non-living but it was made from the fruit of a plant. So these are all the examples of non-living things.

Unicellular: Those organisms which are made up of single cell are known as unicellular organisms for example “Amoeba.” It consists of an individual cell.

Multi-cellular: Those organisms which are made up of more than one cell are known as multi-cellular organisms like plants, cat, dog & us.

Vaifoa- Issues and Possible Solutions

Greetings and welcome to my blog post! During ICT (DigiTech) Class with Ms Anderson, we've been learning about creating a multi-level game, we've been planning on making a multi-level game that focuses on the topic of "Sustainability." This diagram I've created using Google Drawing is to signify the planning of what an issue is within the Tamaki Community and convert that into a "Multi-level" game which is created using a Game Making Application called Scratch. You might of have seen my previous blog post about the game I've created using Scratch and that is just the basics that will lead to making a game that is much more related to school which will help the Tamaki Community. Please feel free to leave some feedback :)

Here is the link to find a Google Form Survey to help me figure out what type of game I should make.
I'd appreciate it very much if you'd check it out, thank you for your time!
